Netflix’s Snowy Swedish Thriller ‘Red Dot’ is Intriguing and Highly Suspenseful

Sommerleigh Pollonais, Senior Writer

Plot: A young couple decide to rekindle their relationship by going on a hiking trip in the snowy wilds of Sweden. But their second honeymoon soon turns nightmarish when they cross paths with crazed local hunters.

Review: My favourite aspect of Red Dot is (unlike most thrillers of this type) that they throw in some twists and turns most people won’t expect. There are so many movies out there like this one, you really have to do something different to stand out. And director Alain Darborg (who also co-wrote the screenplay) adds some elements to this story that kept the intrigue and suspense high.

When you’re racist aunt pays a visit and you pretend not to be home

Our lead actors Nanna Blondell as Nadja and Anastasios Soulis as David deliver solid performances and are very believable as a couple. And Thomas Hanzon (who plays Rolle, but for some reason the English dubbing calls him by his real name) adds a whole different layer of drama and suspense to the movie once certain story elements come to light.

Red Dot could’ve easily been another average movie like a hundred other hunter/hunted thrillers out there, but something foreign films do so well is add elements you never really see coming. And in so doing they deliver the kind of thriller that stands a little taller than the rest.

Sommer’s Score: 6 out of 10
