Top 7 Supergirl Supporting Characters

Not everyone can pull off green skin but she does it well

The second season of ‘Supergirl’ is shaping up quite nicely with the announcement that DC comics character Miss Martian will be appearing. The character, who has similar powers to fellow Mars native Martian Manhunter aka J’onn J’onzz, will be played by Sharon Leal who some of you may remember from her stint on cop/fantasy series ‘Grimm’.

Welcome to the show Sharon

We don’t know what her relationship will be with J’onn but I am hoping for a surrogate father/daughter type relationship. I predict that she will be an ally to Supergirl and join her against the forces of evil. And speaking of supporting characters here is my list of the Top 7 from season one of the show. And SPOILER ALERT is in effect:

#7 James Olsen

Kara and I were just standing here, not kissing

I know Kara is all ga ga for Jimmy and he is sometimes helpful in a pinch but I just find the character a bit bland and their chemistry lacking. I was not shipping nor cheering when they finally got together. I think she deserves better.

#6 Lucy Lane

#6? Really?

This romantic rival turned DEO ally really stuck her neck out for Kara and has shown a strong assertive side. I look forward to seeing more of that in the upcoming season.

#5 Maxwell Lord

I can crush you between my fingers

Sure he’s a poor man’s Lex Luthor and started off as a Supergirl villain but Lord has become a powerful ally with all his tech and genius brain. And he has a slimy charm about him that is endearing.

#4 Winslow “Winn” Schott Jr.

Fight or Flight
Hey there Kara

Perpetually stuck in the dreaded friend zone the affable and lovable Winn always has Kara’s back, is quick with the one liners and is handy with the computer stuff. You our hero Winn.

#3 J’onn J’onzz/Martian Manhunter

A man of two faces

One of the best things that happened in season one was when DEO boss Hank Henshaw was revealed to be DC Comics character Martian Manhunter. He has served as a mentor for Supergirl in his human form and a powerful ally in his Martian form. He took the show to a higher level every time he appeared on screen and kudos to David Harewood on his performance.

#2 Cat Grant

She has no superpowers or special training but Cat can build you up or tear you down with one headline or superb quip. She coined the name “Supergirl” and has been as avid supporter of our hero from day one even counseling her in her moments of doubt. And Calista Flockhart is a non-stop riot.

#1 Alex Danvers

A very special special agent

Sister sister! No one has stood behind Kara/Supergirl like her adopted sis and DEO agent Alex Danvers. Smart, strong, courageous and an expert fighter and tactician, she is also warm and caring when she needs to be. Alex is the total package and that is why she tops this list.
